CM Forgets PV Sindhu's Name, Calls Her 'Karnataka Ki Beti'

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday made a major blooper when he forgot the name of shuttler and silver-medal winner PV Sindhu.

Interestingly, he also claimed that she hails from Karnataka while she belongs to Andhra Pradesh.

Reportedly, the chief minister was addressing a gathering in Bahadurgarh after the felicitation ceremony of freestyle wrestler Sakshi Malik who has won a bronze medal at Rio Olympics.

"On the occasion of Raksha Bandha, our two daughters gave us a beautiful gift. We are proud of Sakshi Malik who is from Rohtak and PV Sindhu who is from Karnataka," Khattar was quoted as saying.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had felicitated Sakshi Malik, the first ever Indian woman to win an Olympics medal in wrestling.

The CM announced a Rs 2.5 crore cash award for the bronze medalist, while promising her a government job.

Also, she was appointed the brand ambassador for 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign.
