That the Congress party leaders never learn from their debacles and try to pull down each other's legs was once again evident with the reactions from seniors to the claims of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy.
It was only a couple of days ago that Uttam had tried to bring unity among the party leaders and cadre. He declared that he would lead the Congress party from the front in the next elections and would declare the list of candidates for the elections a year in advance so that they would work for the party. Obviously, he was trying to project himself as the chief ministerial candidate of the party in the next elections.
On Friday, Uttam received a jolt from senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdary. She asked him, albeit indirectly, to stop day-dreaming of becoming the chief minister.
“Some party top leaders have already started dreaming that they would be the next chief ministers. Let them first concentrate on protecting the cadre, which is completely demoralised. The leaders should first analyse their strength and introspect as to whether they can take on TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao,” she said.
The MP further said those who were trying to go up the ladder by mounting the shoulders of the party cadre should first learn to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the cadre. “Give up differences and work for the party,” she said.
Needless to say, Renuka is also a strong contender for the chief minister post!
