Channel Makes Blunder, Apologises!

A Telugu television channel made a big blunder by giving a wrong scrolling on the condolences expressed by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy over the death of Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

The channel – Maha TV – promoted by veteran journalist I Venkat Rao, gave a scrolling: “Jagan mruthiki Y S Jagan santhaapam” (YS Jagan expressed condolences over the death of Jagan). So, instead of Jaya, it was wrongly typed as Jagan.

It went on for some time before the editorial staff corrected it. But, by that time, the damage was already done and YSR Congress party leaders took it very seriously.

Since Venkat Rao was a close follower of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and the channel has the financial backing of Union minister Sujana Chowdary, it created all the more trouble.

Within minutes, Jagan fans put up a condolence message which read: “Banku Donga Ayina Maha TV Yajamani Durmaranam. Vaadi Athamaki Ashhanti Kalagalani Koruthunna YCP Shrenulu” (Maha TV promoter, who is a bank fraudster, had a dirty death. YSRC ranks wish his soul to suffer unrest).

However, the channel management tendered an unconditional apology over the blunder. It clarified that it was a typographical error – instead of Jaya, the typist erroneously typed it as Jagan unintentionally.
