Cash For Vote: Ball In KCR Court?

Cash For Vote: Ball In KCR Court?

There have been different interpretations on the Friday's Supreme Court judgement on the petition filed by YSR Congress party MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy on the probe into AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's role in the cash-for-vote scandal.

While pro-Chandrababu Naidu dailies said the Supreme Court had rejected the petition of the MLA and described it as a politically-motivated case, pro-Jaganmohan Reddy dailies and channels said it was actually a slap on the face of Naidu, as it has directed the Hyderabad High Court to complete the investigation within four weeks.

It also gave an option to the MLA to come back to the Supreme Court, if the probe is not completed within four weeks.

It now remains to be seen whether the High Court will ask the ACB to file a fresh FIR with Naidu’s name and complete the investigation within four weeks, or allow the ACB to finish the investigation with the old FIR.

The ACB, now, has to submit an affidavit to the High Court either seeking to file a fresh FIR or with an old FIR.

It all depends on the decision of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. If KCR gives his nod to the ACB to file a fresh FIR, it will be a big embarrassment to Naidu. But does he do that, since both the chief ministers have already come to an understanding on the subject.

So, KCR will definitely bail out Naidu. But the YSRC MLA still has the option of moving the Supreme Court.
