Bureaucrats Playing Safe With Naidu Decisions!

Once-bitten-twice-shy IAS officials of the Chandrababu Naidu government in Andhra Pradesh are refusing to blindly endorse the decisions of the chief minister in handing over the development of new capital of Amaravati to Singapore government consortium.

According to sources, the officials are learnt to have advised Naidu against selection of Singapore consortium through “Swiss Challenge” method, according to which a company will be chosen for contract well in advance and then call for bids from others to compare them with the first one. This will create legal problems in future.

Especially, chief secretary S P Tucker is learnt to have refused to sign the file; and it was only after Naidu signed on it, he put the file in circulation. The other bureaucrats also insisting on the chief minister’s signature first before taking any other decisions.

Obviously, the officials do not want to get into trouble as their colleagues had during the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy regime. Very senior IAS officers had to go behind the bars in connection with the quid pro quo case of Jagan and also Obulapuram mining case.

“If there is any scandal in the Amaravati development issue, the blame will go to Naidu and the officials will remain safe,” sources said.
