BJP On The Back Foot Over Judges' Stir

BJP On The Back Foot Over Judges' Stir

The ongoing agitation by the Telangana judges and judicial officers has come as a blessing in disguise for the Telangana Rashta Samithi which has used it as a weapon to the attack the Centre and the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, thereby gaining political mileage.

But the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has claimed to have played a big role in the formation of the Telangana state, has virtually gone on back foot over the judges’ agitation.

While the Congress and the Telangana TDP have supported the judges’ agitation for their own political ends, the BJP tried to shift the blame on to the TRS and the TDP governments in Telangana and Andhra respectively and wash off its hands.

BJP official spokesman Raghunandan Rao tried to corner the TRS saying there was nothing wrong in asking options from the judges on their allocation. This has created troubles for the party, which is now being projected as anti-Telangana.

In fact, BJP MLC N Ramachandra Rao had claimed that he would get the division of High court done within one month of getting elected. But that has not happened. Now, it is trying to undo the damage done to the party by coming in support of judges agitation.
