BJP In Catch-22 Situation In Andhra

Three huge public meetings have been planned by the BJP in Andhra Pradesh and the theme of the meetings will be ‘Development of AP-BJP’s role’.

The first meeting will be held on March 6 at Rajahmundry and will be addressed by Amit Shah. As part of the strategy, the BJP will highlight the development programmes and welfare schemes sponsored by the central government and the benefits extended to AP in the last two years.

The meetings assume political significance as many TDP leaders have been expressing dissatisfaction over the central government’s ‘indifference’ on several important issues, including the grant of special category status.

The BJP intends to use these meetings to emerge as a formidable political force in AP by 2019.

The problem for the BJP is sanctioning a few central institutions and universities will not have any impact on the general populace. Also, the special status issue remains a headache for them.

Whatever good they do to AP will be usurped by CBN and they are therefore reluctant to extend any largesse, especially given the notorious corruption charges against CBN.

But without doing anything for AP, how can they expect to improve their vote base?
