Bihar Stalemate: BJP Hasn't Learnt Its Lesson Yet

Sitting in the hot seat can make the best of minds behave strangely. During the 2014 general elections, everything BJP did was looked upon as perfect strategy and things did indeed go their way. But it's nearly 10 months now and the honeymoon period of both the ruling party of India and the people is more than over.

The crushing defeat of the ruling party in the capital city, especially at a time when the party is in power, is the most shameful trounce for any political party.

Even as the party is being ridiculed all over for not being able to garner votes in the capital, the Saffron party continues to behave in an erratic manner.

The party’s stance with regards to the Bihar elections is drawing flak even from its staunch supporters, who are fast dwindling with time.

Despite ex Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar getting a clear cut majority in the state, Governor Tripathi is still procrastinating to invite Nitish to form the government. A majority of JD (U) members have already pledged their support to Nitish Kumar and the internal fight is now out and open.

Already, Nitish Kumar has expressed his happiness over BJP losing in Delhi and said, “Hawabaazi se kaam nahin chalega,” which means talking big will no longer help the party.

He added that since people of all states including those from Bihar live in large numbers in Delhi, the Delhi results reflected people’s opinon about Modi government after nearly 10 months in power.

Incidentally, the state of Bihar will go to polls in November. But if the BJP does not follow a democratic process, then it is likely to impact the functioning of a democracy. Wonder if BJP will learn its lesson at least now!
