Bhuma's daughter to contest Allagadda bypoll

Bhuma's daughter to contest Allagadda bypoll

YSR Congress Party has decided to rope in Bhuma Akhila Priya, daughter of Bhuma Nagi Reddy and late Shobha Nagi Reddy into bypoll from Allagadda in Kunrool district.

Bhuma Akhila may get elected unopposed as TDP is expected to extend support by abstaining from fielding a candidate.

YSRCP chief and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy today held discussions with party leaders and decided to field Akhila Priya as a fitting tribute to departed leader. Nagi Reddy, along with his daughter today met Jaganmohan Reddy at party office here.

Jaganmohan Reddy appointed a two-member committee to ensure that the byelection for Allagadda be held unanimous.

The committee comprises Dharmana Prasada Rao and MV Mysoora Reddy, who are making efforts to convince the TDP and other parties to make the bypoll unanimous.

It may be noted that YSRCP abstained from fielding a candidate in Nandigama byelection held recently as TDP leader Mandali Buddha Prasad sought Jagan’s cooperation for unopposed bypoll.

This time around the same understanding between the YSRCP and TDP may be worked out to ensure that YSRCP candidate Bhuma Akhila Priya wins the election unopposed.

The bypoll is necessitated as sitting MLA Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy died in a road accident even before the results of general elections were out. She won the elections with good majority. Election Commission has announced that bypoll would be held in November.
