Bhuma Fast Losing Followers In Nandyal?

Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy, who had once virtually ruled Kurnool politics, appears to have become loner in his own constituency after defecting to the Telugu Desam Party along with his daughter Bhuma Akhila, who represents Allagadda constituency.

According to sources, a large number of his followers have refused to join the TDP along with him, though they had been loyal to his family for several decades.

For example, Nandyal Municipal Vice Chairman Dr Ramalinga Reddy flatly refused the invitation of Bhuma to join the TDP and made it clear that he would continue in the YSR Congress party, come what may. Similar was the reaction of several of erstwhile Bhuma followers.

They reportedly told the local media that Bhuma had the history of changing parties. After enjoying key positions in the TDP in the past, he had dumped it and joined the Praja Rajyam Party floated by Chiranjeevi.

When the PRP did not fare well in the 2009 elections, the Bhuma couple joined the Congress party under the leadership of Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Later, they shifted their loyalties from the Congress to the YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for personal benefits.

“Now, he is back in the TDP. He has lost his credibility among the people. How can we sail with him, just because we had been loyal to his family all these years? We have to take care of our political future, too,” a YSRC leader from Nandyal observed.
