Bhuma Family Hopeful Of Jagan's Support!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is facing a tough time in the selection of candidate for the by-election to Nandyal assembly seat, which has fallen vacant following the death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy.

Though Naidu initially decided to give the ticket to one of the family members of Bhuma Nagi Reddy and assured his daughter Bhuma Akhila Priya about the same, he developed second thoughts following a claim from TDP leader Shilpa Mohan Reddy, who had contested against Bhuma in 2014 elections.

He demanded that he should be fielded in the by-elections and threatened to quit the party, if he was denied the ticket. At the same time, Akhila Priya also has started strongly lobbying for her sister Mounika or another cousin.

On Sunday, both the claimants met Naidu and put forth their cases strongly. Akhila Priya is learnt to have told the TDP president that she would try to get the election unanimous, because her family has good contacts with YSR Congress party as well.

“If one of our family members is given the party ticket, I will ensure that Jaganmohan Reddy does not field his party candidate. Moreover, he doesn’t have good candidates in his party for Nandyal,” she said.

Mohan Reddy already threatened that if he did not get the TDP ticket, he would have to contest on YSR Congress party ticket. However, he told Naidu that he would leave the decision to Naidu to select the right candidate and abide by whatever decision the party would take.

Realising that it would create trouble, Naidu told them that he would announce the candidate at an appropriate time after his return from the US tour.
