Kiran gave a jolt to none other than the President of India, Mr Pranab Mukherjee when he met him along with the delegation of Seemandhra Ministers to request him not to send the T-Bill to Parliament.
In the course of his discussion with the President, Kiran reminded the latter of an incident which happened in 1964.
The Congress government then, under Nehru wanted to hand over certain villages in the Bori Bora area of West Bengal to East Pakistan.
The Centre sent a Bill to West Bengal for this purpose.
The Bill was comprehensively defeated in the West Bengal Assembly and among the people who voted against the Bill was Kamda Kinkar Mukherjee, the father of Pranab Mukherjee who was then a member of the legislative council in West Bengal.
The Center subsequently dropped its idea of handing over the villages to East Pakistan which is now Bangladesh.
President Pranab Mukherjee was stunned when Kiran reminded him of this incident and asked him to follow the same rule in not approving a bill rejected by the AP Assembly. Seems like Kiran has done his homework perfectly!
