Factionism in Rayalaseema used to be strictly a 'Reddy' affair until Paritala (Kamma) family entered the fray.
The rise of Paritala Ravi changed the equations and under the political patronage of NTR, he set about decimating his rivals with impunity. In fact, he was one of the accused in the murder of Raja Reddy, grandfather of YS Jagan. This would turn out to be a costly mistake for Ravi.
While YSR himself, having become religious decided to not go in for retaliation, it is believed that a young and hot-blooded YS Jagan vowed to take revenge.
Paritala Ravi’s fate was sealed that very instant. While there was no threat to Ravi as long as the TDP was in power (although he did escape the jubilee hills car bomb blast), it was different once the Congress came to power.
Maddelacheruvu Suri set about realizing his life’s goal of eliminating Ravi and he was allegedly supported by Jagan in this. Suri was a daredevil who feared none and YSR was extremely fond of him.
When Suri was jailed in the Jubilee Hills Bomb case, he was only 26. The killing of Paritala’s men started with the Congress coming to power and ended with the murder of Ravi himself.
The Congress factionists who were subjected to terror by Ravi under the TDP regime hit back with a vengeance. Chandrababu Naidu protested then and submitted a memorandum to the governor.
It is now the TDP in power. Some YSRCP district level leaders have lost their lives in Anantpur. YS Jagan has now submitted a memorandum to the governor. The cycle continues.
