Some time back, Telangana Chief Minister KCR had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for the Women’s Reservation Bill’ to be passed in Lok Sabha.
The Bill which was introduced in 1996 seeks to reserve 33.33 per cent seats in the Lok Sabha and in the State Legislative Assemblies for women.
After a long battle, the Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on 9th March 2010.
By writing to Modi, KCR tried to project himself as a champion of women.
However, it is a fact that there is not a single woman in his cabinet which was expanded recently.
This is a clear indication of how much importance he attaches to women. Could he not find even a single competent woman in Telangana to be a part of his cabinet?
