Chandrababu Naidu was talking about bullet trains in AP but forget bullet trains, he will not be able to get even a metro rail to AP.
In the euphoric hangover of his electoral victory, he had promised metro rail to Vizag and Vijayawada and one for Tirupati as well.
Architect of the Delhi Metro Rail, Sridharan was appointed and surveys undertaken to conduct feasibility study for the projects in AP.
A lot of money running into crores was spent on this survey and ultimately the results of the survey are out.
Based on this survey, the Central government has ruled out any financial assistance to metro rail projects in Vizag and Vijayawada as the survey declared that the projects would be financially unviable and a drain on the exchequer.
Now, the people of AP need not feel disappointed at this decision of the Center as there is no point in starting financially unviable projects running into thousands of crores.
But this is yet another instance of short-sightedness on the part of Chandrababu: making promises that cannot be kept, just like his loan waiver scheme for farmers.
