Bathukamma Money For Kavitha Glory?

Bathukamma Money For Kavitha Glory?

The Telangana State government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore for the celebration of Bathukamma festival across the State, but there are allegations that the money was being allocated to highlight the programmes of Telangana Jagruthi, headed by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and Nizamabad MP Kalwakuntla Kavitha.

According to official sources, the State government has directed all the district officials to celebrate “Bathukamma”  festival, which reflects the  Telangana tradition, in a grand manner in all district headquarters, towns, municipalities and  villages.

The officials would have to coordinate with the Telangana Jagruthi which will be a nodal agency in celebrating the festival.

Needless to say, the festival works would be given to the Jagruthi workers and there would be cutouts of Kavitha all over the State, highlighting her role in the festivities, say sources.

“The festivities will be conducted in a grand manner by illuminating all important structures and traffic junctions to suit the occasion. Needless to say, the works would be given to the followers of Kavitha”, sources said.

The District Collectors were asked to identify a village in their districts to promote  an  ideal village  with  ‘home stay’  facility for foreign tourists  to attract international tourists.

The government would offer Rs One lakh cash prize for the best tableau, Rs 75, 000 for the second best and Rs 50, 000 for the third.
