Bathukamma – the nine-day floral festival of Telangana State today culminated on a grand not at Tank Bund with Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao participating.
While the Governor released a few balloons to mark the event, the CM unveiled a book on the occasion.
The Celebrations were live telecast by “YouTube” by Telangana Government for viewing the festivities across the world.
Lady Governor Vimala Narasimhan also joined the event attended by Shobha, the CM’s wife, TRS MP Kavitha, Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy and others in the floral festival and encouraged the womenfolk played to the tunes.
Entire stretch of Hussain Sagar was seen illuminated with colorful lights, while fountains and balloons in myriad varieties attracted many and later thousands of Bathukammas were immersed into the lake.
A large number of women and girls came from districts joined the event in a rally from LB Stadium in specially decorated vehicles.
A large number of people from twin cities thronged the Tank Bund to have the glimpse of the floral festival a cynosure of sorts.
Leaders those attended the floral festival include MP K Kesava Rao, Council Chairman Swamy Goud, BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya, Congress Leader V Hanumatha Rao, Ministers, TRS leaders and others.
