Bapiraju Refuses To Quit TTD

Notwithstanding the Chandrababu Naidu government’s decision to abolish all the temple trust boards in the wake of change of power in the State, Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) chairman Kanumuri Bapiraju on Friday made it clear that he would not resign from his post.

Though there was a speculation that he would quit his post in view of abolition of management boards of all temples, Kanumuri said that TTD Chairman is very sacred and he would not resign on his own.

In fact, when he called a press conference in the afternoon, there was a talk that he would quit the TTD chairman post. He happily participated in the Varalaxmi Vratam at Tiruchanoor temple and later declared that he would not quit his post.

However, Bapiraju said he would abide by the decision taken by Andhra Pradesh Government in this regard.

Admitting that he had requested Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to allow him to continue on the post till the completion of his term, he said he wants to continue till the new board takes over the TTD.
