AP's IT Dream: All Hoopla And No Substance?

AP's IT Dream: All Hoopla And No Substance?

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy has repeatedly said that IT sector would be developed in the state and the government would provide five lakh jobs to the eligible youth.

But, if one goes by what a pro-Government media is writing these days, things are not as rosy as being portrayed.

The Government plan to build a signature tower for giving a boost to the IT sector in Vizag has run into rough weather.

The construction has been assigned to the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and it called for tenders. Shockingly, none of the national level construction companies has come forward to bid for the prestigious project.

What more, they are not evincing interest even in public-private partnership. The Centre too is not showing interest in the proposed Fibre Grid of AP Government.

To top it, no Indian or foreign company is coming forward to invest in Andhra Pradesh. That being the case, the government claim that it would provide five lakh IT jobs appears a tall claim.

It is also being said that the Government has given away 50 acres for a very low price to an IT company. Whatever happened to it, no one knows. On the whole, the Government's IT talk appears to be all hype and so substance.
