The total losses of the RTC come to around Rs 3600 crore. Of this amount, Rs 2600 crore has been apportioned to Seemandhra and Rs 1000 crore to Telangana.
The rationale behind is that the losses for RTC have been greater in Seemandhra region.
In 2013-14, RTC has incurred a loss of Rs 900 crore out of which Rs 300 crore has been given to Telangana region. Normally, the division of assets for both states has been happening on the basis of population and if that principle were to be followed, Telangana should bear more than 40% of the losses.
But why is this principle not being followed in respect of RTC? WHEN IT COMES TO RESOURCES, Telangana is benefitting in terms of population, but when it comes to losses, performance is being cited as the criterion.
This is completely unacceptable and a uniform yardstick needs to be applied in respect of all issues failing which Seemandhra region would suffer immensely.
