Amaravati Roads At 17 Metres Height!

Interesting as it might sound, the proposed roads in Amaravati would be at a higher-elevation from the surrounding roads in Vijayawada-Guntur, if Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister has his way.

Naidu on Wednesday approved the proposal for laying 1600 km length of highways and roads in Amaravati by next year. Of them the main roads would be for the length of 500 metres and all the roads would be constructed at a height of 17 metres from the mean sea level.

“We are soon going to call tenders for the master developer for the construction of roads and highways. The entire process will be transparent,” Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development M Narayana said.

Apparently, the highways and roads are being proposed at a height of 17 metres from the mean sea level only to prevent submergence if surrounding rivulets and streams like Kondaveeti Vaagu overflow during rainy season.

Even the official buildings and other structures are being constructed at a higher level to avoid submergence, even it calls for higher expenditure.
