A Test Of Their Sincerity

Recently, the TRS commented that the TDP was trying to turn the ‘cash for vote’ issue into a regional dispute between the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, to wriggle out of the mess.

More importantly, they added that Seemandhra people in Hyderabad were now ‘Telanganites’ according to them.

Is this new found love of the Seemandhra people only because of the upcoming GHMC elections or is it a genuine change of heart? This will be revealed next month when the Telangana government issues its first job notification for various government posts.

As per the standard rules, 85% of the jobs will be reserved for the locals and 15% for non-locals.

To date, the Telangana government is yet to come out with concrete guidelines on who is a local and who is not.

KCR’s earlier attempt to categorize those people as natives whose parents were born before 1956 is downright stupid and backfired. Obviously, he cannot toe the same line again.

But if he were to go ahead with a similar policy targeted at alienating the Seemandhras from the recruitment process, then he would face their ire in the GHMC polls, if he doesn’t then he might face a problem from his own students who have already been giving him sleepless nights. Not easy being a CM, is it?
