Claiming that there were irregularities in allotting water to 'India Cements' company in Kadapa, the CBI said that it was quid pro quo for having invested in Jagan’s companies and therefore filed a charge sheet. This is public knowledge.
But when the CBI requested permission from the Centre to interrogate IAS officers Adityanath Das and Samuel named in the case, they were denied it.
The Center said that it felt the IAS officers were clean and also said that there were no irregularities in allotting water to ‘India Cements’.
The only mistake was an oversight by the IAS officers and the Govt of AP in not informing the Central body of allotting excess water to ‘India Cements’ and this was excusable said the Centre.
The Centre also added that the AP government itself said that Adityanath and Samuel did not do any wrong and they took the step only after approval from the CM and Home Minister during that time.
The only thing not known is which AP government gave this assurance. Was it the Congress or the current TDP? Either way, the signs indicate that Jagan might be given a clean chit soon in the whole affair.
