He got recognition and appreciation with his negative role in Pawan Kalyan’s Panja. Earlier, Sesh Adivi directed the film Karma. Now, with Kiss, he played the dual role of a director and the lead actor. But it has to be said that while testing his skills, he has put the audience’s patience to test. He inadvertently becomes a villain for Kiss.

Story:
Priya (Priya Banerjee) gets admission in the Oxford University. But her father fixes her wedding with Ravi (Bharat Reddy). Since Priya does not like Ravi and his wayward nature, she decides to commit suicide. When she goes to commit suicide, she meets a small-time thief Sunny (Sesh). He tells her to enjoy her life before kills herself. Well, goes without saying, the rest of the film show how Priya decides to spend her last few days and whether Priya commits suicide or not.

Performance:
Adivi Sesh does have the screen presence. He manages well in the entertainment scenes, but falls short of expectations when it comes to emotional scenes.

Priya looks good, but fails to emote. Apparently, she did do an acting course before venturing into films, but that doesn’t seem to have helped her. She will have to definitely go back to school to get her act right.

Bharat Reddy is ok playing the bad guy. Shafi tries his best to evoke a few laughs, but fails. It is best to say little about the rest of the supporting cast. In fact, one is bound to understand the importance of supporting actors after watching this film.

Technical team:
The film has been shot in San Francisco and that is the only plus. It looks good. One must appreciate the producer for spending lavishly on the film.

Barring that, the rest of the technical team fails to showcase any interesting work. None of songs linger in your memory, though the playback is good.

Neither is the cinematography good nor are the dialogues interesting.

The onus falls on director Adivi Sesh to take the plot forward. He does take the help of his brother Adivi Sai Kiran (Vinayakudu fame), but neither the story nor the narration are gripping. Without a strong story and good screenplay, the best of the directors are bound to falter and the plight of Sesh is no different.

Analysis:
A film must have an agenda. It should be either entertaining or different or promote a message or at least be good for time pass. But the audience is left wondering as to what was the main purpose in making such a movie – was it because the makers thought it was entertaining or did they think they were giving out a message? Whatever be their reason, the audience surely misses the point.

For a small film to click, it should have a unique story line with interesting twists or it should be a total ‘paisa vasool’ entertainer. Unfortunately, Kiss does not fall into either of the categories. It even adds to extra expenditure on tablets post show.

For a single line plot, there must be a lot of entertaining sequences and a good comedy track. But Kiss has boring characters and equally boring situations that make the audience wait for ‘The end’.

Another drawback of the film is that it has the makers’ kith and kin playing various roles. So, looks like the makers got no constructive criticism during the making. Also, all of them are total novices in front of the camera and this does not help the film one bit.

In all, the film can be totally avoided as it is weak both in terms of script and performances. The lucky ones will read the reviews and stay away from the theatres, while the unlucky ones are bound to come out dazed after watching it!

Bottomline: Don’t want this Kiss!
