Story

The first thing that comes into mind when we talk about Venky movies is heart warming family movies, with a touch of comedy, sentiment and romance. Malleswari also falls into the same genre of movies.

Malleswari (Katrina Kaif) is a story of a beautiful princess who is the heiress of Raja of Mirjapur. Her father, the King, in his will writes that the princess would inherit property worth 750 crores at the age of 21, until when her uncle Bhavani Prasad (Kota Srinivas Rao) would be the care taker of the property. And it’s none other than Bhavani Prasad, who plans to inherit the property by eliminating the princess.

To keep Malleswari safe from the goons, she is sent to her uncles’ (Tanikella Barani) house in Vizag, where she leads a normal, next-door-girl life style.

Prasad (Venky) a bachelor, working as a bank accountant in Vizag, accidentally meets Malleswari and falls in love. Bhavani on finding Malleswaris where abouts, sends his goons to Vizag, to eliminate her. Neck deep in love by now, Prasad locks horns with the goons to save his new found love. To know how the hero exposes and thwarts Bhavani Prasads sinister attempts, you must watch Malleswari on the big screen.

Performance

Venky was a perfectly fit for this role. His action as a bachelor desperate to get married is note worthy. As usual he excels in comedy and sentimental scenes, the surprise package in this movie was his fights. Katrina Kaif a model turned actress with her elegant looks couldn’t have been a better fit for the princess role. Sunita dubbed her voice. Kota, Bramhanandam, Sunil and Tanikella performed well in their roles. Gajala did an item number and Smita (pop singer) acted in a negative role.

Analysis

Majority of what we do in life is routine but that doesn’t mean to say life is not interesting, so is this movie; though it is a routine “rich princess-poor boy” story, it is entertaining with the timely and crisp dialogues. The screenplay, characterization coupled with peppy dialogues and one-liners are the strengths of this film. Photography by Sameer Reddy is excellent. The climax is clean and crisp.
