Director Veerabhadram who directed comedy movies like 'Aha Na Pellanta' and 'Poolarangadu' has lost the craze with the disastrous 'Bhai' starring Nagarjuna.

In an attempt to be back on the track, he made "Chuttalabbayi" with Aadi. The director during the movie's promotions said he has focused on entertainment and made sure that everyone would have a few laughs.

Has he really made us laugh with his latest movie? Let's find out.

Story:
Kavya (Namitha Pramod), sister of a police officer, is tired of constant pressure to get married. One day, she meets Babjee (Aadi) who is a recovering agent in Hyderabad. They meet twice or thrice again unexpectedly and talk to each other. Kavya's brother thinks that she is in love with him and sends his police officers to threaten Babjee to stay away from her.

One day, she runs away from her house and again she meets Babjee and police chase him thinking both are eloping. Now they board a train and leave for Babjee's village. Rest of the movie is about their journey and some comedy along the way, post interval it is the drama in their village.

Artistes’ Performances:
Aadi and Namitha Pramod both have done justice to their roles in this hackneyed script. Aadi has high energy and he has pulled off his role well. The new heroine has shown good acting skills but she lacks glamour.

Prudhvi has generated quite a few good laughs in the first half although his role is nothing new. Posani's characterization is irritating. Sai Kumar and Annapurna are okay. Raghu Babu's is routine comedy. Ali is good. John Kokken and Abhimanyu Singh have mere appearances but lack depth in their characters

Technical Excellence:
The movie seems to have been shot lavishly but the technical values are just average. Thaman's songs are okay. Editing is totally bad. Production values are decent.

Highlights:
Thaman's songs

Drawbacks:
Hackneyed script
Boring second half
Predictable screenplay and silly dialogues
Clichéd narration

Analysis:
Few minutes into the movie, we get the feeling that we are not watching "Chuttalabbayi" but a old movie on TV. The story, the scenes, the comedy… all are seen many times in many other movies. Both director Veerabhadram and hero Aadi seem to have low confidence about their movie as they have walked in a safe route.

Since Veerabhadram has delivered a big flop with "Bhai", he has tried desperately to rely on comedy scenes, not working on the story. Aadi who is also going through bad phase went with the flow, not working much about his getup or characterization.

Not just that the story is predictable, even the comedy is routine. There is no logic at all. Heroine's brother is ruthless encounter specialist but he doesn't try to call or find out her whereabouts with his police machinery when she runs out from his house, instead he sends his police officers like mafia don sends his henchmen to find her.

Then there is another villain who vows to kidnap this encounter specialist's sister but he turns out to be a wimp in the end.

Forget about the logic, does comedy work? No. The comedy scenes are bland. While the first half of the movie can be called bearable thanks to Prudhvi, the second half turns out to be a complete dud.

In the first half, Aadi and Namitha hike up a train and the following journey is similar to Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" but what we miss here is the fun and the great romantic scenes. The writer and director just followed the template without infusing any value in it.

Apart from a couple of comedy scenes and Adi and Namitha, the movie totally is below average.

All in all, this is dull movie with old style of narration.

Bottom-line: Dull Abbayi
