Audiences go for any movie by holding some expectations. In majority cases, expectations hardly meet the output of the film. But ‘Madhumasam’ is the one that’s perfectly in tune with expectations. That makes the audiences cool and comfortable till the end.

Story

Sanjay (Sumanth) is the guy who thinks, speaks, behaves and lives with practical mindset. Love and emotion are not his cups of tea!

Maya (Parvati Melton) is Sanjay’s friend who lives with Tom Boy nature and freedom of ‘everything’. She drinks, smokes and gets into sexual relationships with the men she likes. But she isn’t harmful for anyone.

Hamsa (Sneha) is the girl who gives value for emotions, sentiments and love. Her father (Giribabu) lives on the earning of her. She is mother-less girl.

Sanjay’s sister-in-law, Manga, who hails from village background, tries to get love from him with an idea to get married to him.

Misunderstandings, misconceptions, emotional distress, faithful beliefs, desires and betrayals play vital role in the lives of Hamsa and Sanjay. Even Maya faces a few situations those influence her life. Manga understands depth of love and understanding. Incidentally, Sanjay, who has been practical, turns emotional; Hamsa who has been emotional turns practical and flirting Maya transforms into a responsible lady.

Finally, who wins who? Who changes who? What changes everyone? All those are to be watched on screen. That goes with interesting sequences and it appears to be reading a novel on silver screen.

Performances

Sumanth’s performance is laudable in the film. He played all the necessary histrionics showing contrast from first half and second half of the film. Maturity is seen in better way in his performance.

Sneha’s look, smile and performance pervade throughout the film and make a pleasant mark on audiences. Ample scope to perform is given to her and she utilized that aptly.

Parvati Melton played typical tomboyish and flirting role perfectly. Her body language, expressions and movements aptly suited for her characterization.

Venu Madhav’s comedy with Dharmavarapu is ok. Cell phone comedy sounds old and obsolete. Jayaprakash Reddy and MS Narayana’s track is also good. But MS Narayana’s dubbing voice is not recorded properly. That disturbs the audiences.

Satyanand scores good marks as dialogue writer. He spilled enough humor through out, without diverting from the main theme of the film. Audiences can happily laugh for the situational comedy in the film.

Music:
Mani Sharma’s music is good and impressive. Especially the song ‘…Merupulu Atu-Gunde Kudupulu Itu..’ sounds to be old wine in new bottle. The picturing of the song with black and white elements is also impressive. Ramanaidu appears for a while in this song. Other songs are also impressive on screen. But there are no great melodies to recall and hum.

Direction:
Chandra Siddarth’s direction is worth mentioning. He didn’t miss the entertaining elements and at the same time justified the story of the film. Narration didn’t go out of track and at the same time didn’t bore the audiences.

Analysis:

This is the film that runs on characterizations of people. Characters will be established as soon the film begins and rest goes with performances.

First half of the film runs with comedy and subtle humor while second half goes little serious. Soft humor suffused thorough out the film and even masses laugh for that situational comedy.

Entire film is the comprehensive description for ‘love’ and ‘philosophy of life’. The film is worth watching for the humorous dialogues written by Satyanand. Story writer Ramani also deserves good mention for knitting a meaningful theme with novel characters.

Only the patronage of family audiences decides the future of this film.

Bottom Line: Perfect Family Entertainer with Soft Humor
