The film starts with the statement, “All Characters in this film are fictitious. Resembling to any living or dead is only coincidental”. That raises interest among audiences. Well, the fictitious character is Dheerappan, a deceased Sandal Wood Smuggler.

Story

The film starts with the scene that the Sandal Wood Smuggler Dheerappan (name resembling Veerappan)was killed. Bha.Su aka Bhavaraju Suryanarayana (Aryan Rajesh), the TV Reporter covers the news. While his troupe returns back in hurry an investigative journalist by name Chakravarthy asks for lift. But accidentally, as the vehicle rushes with over speed it meets with big accident. Everybody in the vehicle gets killed except BhaSu. Chakravarthy breathes his last by handing BhaSu a bag saying that there is lot of information regarding Veerappan in that.

Later, BhaSu knows with the details given by Chakravarthy that Dheerappan buried a big treasure in the Nitya Mangala Forest. He also finds the map drawn by Chakravarthy to reach that treasure.

Then BhaSu with a team goes into the forest in Treasure Hunt. Hamsa Nandini is one among the team members who gets close to BhaSu. While hunting for treasure, the team comes to know that Dheerappan wasn’t dead but still alive. After getting the treasure the team starts returning back. But one by one in the team gets killed by some unknown person on the way mysteriously.

Who is that person? Is he Dheerappan again? The theme goes with suspense from the interval till the climax. Suspense cracks only in the grand finale of the film.

Performances:

There is nothing great to mention about Aryan Rajesh. There is no big scope in the film to unleash his performance in better way. He just justified his role and nothing more.

Hamsa Nandini is slim and bony. She looked sensuous in some frames and below average in many. She looks good only while smiling but appears pale with serious expression.

Vanita Reddy, with her vamp look appeared hot on screen.

Jaya Prakasha Reddy has stolen the show on a whole. His slang dialogues spilled laughs in theatre and it is only he who continues to flash on mind even after walking out from theaters.

Dialogues by Akella Vamsi Krishna are subtle and sensible.

Music:
Ilaya Raja’s mark is observed in all the songs. Certain beats recall the old films in the combination of Ilayaraja and Vamshi. Tarani’s Audiography with hair rising background music added more feel to the film.

Direction:
Vamshi’s mark is clearly observed while picturing the songs. Typical East Godavari slang for characters and showcasing different characterizations and mannerisms are continued in this film as well.

Analysis:

The film runs with suspense. But that wouldn’t be as thrilling as expected. The formula used in narrating this film is on beaten track. Ancient film ‘Ave Kallu’ flashes on our mind’s screen when the movie comes to end. The film got inspired by many popular films in developing the script with suspense element. A few films Treasure Hunt, Predator and Anaconda can be underlined here.

A sheer imagination with the background of Veerappan’s death is turned into ‘Anumanaspadam’. First half of the film goes with humor while second half goes with mystery and suspense.

But the depth in suspense is not much weighty as audiences have got exposed to many films of this sort earlier.

Still, the movie need not be ruled out. It gives enough entertainment. Enough efforts are kept to divert the attention of audiences in catching the hub of suspense. But doubts get unleashed slowly when the film comes nearer to grand finale.

To sum up, the film grants enough feel although made on beaten track.

Above all, it’s only Jay Prakash Reddy who tickles the audiences with his Tamil slang and diction through out the film.

Bottom Line: Anumanaspadam- A Film with Veerappan Background
