Screen Buzz: Finally Asin is Aamir’s newest heroine
When Bollywood star Aamir Khan wanted to act in the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Ghajini, Kollywood was abuzz with speculation that Asin would be cast as the lead heroine. And this newspaper had also reported that Aamir personally called up Asin and praised her performance in the film. However, keeping in mind the scale of all Aamir Khan films, and the fact that Asin is a nobody in Bollywood, several mainsteam heroines including Ayesha Takia and Priyanka Chopra were considered for the role. When director Murugadas was contacted recently, he said that the lead actress had still not been finalised, and Ayesha Takia was to give a screen test.
However, sources have revealed that Ayesha Takia failed the screen test since the role was not just a glamourous one and Asin has been given the green signal, as Aamir believed that he needed a performing artiste. So looks like the pretty actress will be playing the role of Kalpana in the Hindi remake as well.
When this newspaper contacted Asin, she refused to comment, saying that any announcement regarding the film should come from the producer, who will make an official announcement soon.
