Top 5: Guru Dominates The Show

1) Guru: Sports drama Guru featuring Venkatesh and Ritika Singh as the leads has done pretty well in its first weekend.

The film has opened on a decent note and got better over the weekend. Guru minted more share on Sunday than its first day in many centers indicating the acceptance from the audience.

The film is sure to be a successful venture to its makers as it is made on a limited budget.

2) Katamarayudu: Pawan Kalyan’s last week release Katamarayudu has been largely affected by Guru and poor word of mouth that it couldn’t cash in on the weekend.

The film’s performance is very weak over the weekend drying the hopes of its buyers. The film has set its eye on entering the sixty crore club, but that it wouldn’t be enough as there is a lot more to recover.

3) Rogue: Puri Jagannadh used to be a crowd puller irrespective of the performance of his films. Surprisingly, his latest film Rogue failed to get decent openings.

Puri’s recent track record coupled with an unknown lead actor must be the reason for poor turnout.

The film turned out to be yet another damp squib from the maverick director that its chances of picking up with the word of mouth have been ruled out on day 1 itself.

4) Naam Shabana: Taapsee’s first female centric film in Bollywood opened on a decent note. Thanks to the big names that are involved in the project besides her.

Akshay Kumar’s cameo and the ‘Baby’ factor helped the film to put up decent figures in its first weekend. However, public talk and reviews are not so encouraging.

5) Dora: Nayanthara’s dubbed flick Dora suffered due to poor publicity. Not many know that this horror/thriller is in theaters now. It clearly reflected on its numbers during the weekend.
