GPSK and Bb 2 Land in Political Controversy

Both Nandamuri Balakrishna's 100th film 'Gautamiputra Satakarni' and Rajamouli's epic graphical drama 'Baahubali 2' set box-office on fire.

While 'Gautamiputra Satakarni' was released in January this year, 'Baahubali 2' completed its 50 days run recently. Both these movies have now been dragged into political controversy.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu sacked former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh IYR Krishna Rao as chairman of Brahmin Welfare Corporation.

The reason cited was his Facebook posts against the government. But the opposition parties say IYR Krishna Rao's critical remarks about 'Gautamiputra Satakarni' and 'Baahubali 2' were the main reasons for his ousting.

Krishna Rao questioned the tax waiver for 'Gauthamiputra Satakarni', which has distorted history. If not for CM's brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna, the film would not have received such entertainment tax exemption, he said at the time of the release.

He also questioned the government's decision to allow six shows daily for 'Baahubali 2'. In this case, the makers (producers and director) are close to the ruling party. So, IVR Krishna Rao raised this point.

YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu today said the government is punishing Krishna Rao as he raised objections towards tax exemption to Balakrishna's movie as well as granting special permission to 'Baahubali 2'.
