60 Crore At Stake On Oopiri

Nagarjuna, Karthi starrer Oopiri has caught the attention of movie lovers with its promos and publicity. However this film should impress the majority of audience to be a safe venture.

Oopiri/Thozha cannot be a safe venture if it fails to connect with the masses. This film is made on a high budget of 60 crore as it is lavishly shot in foreign locales.

Thankfully it is a bilingual and the producer can recover at least twenty percent of his investment through satellite rights.

Even then Oopiri should collect more than 45 crore share from its theatrical business, which is not going to be a cake walk. Although Nagarjuna’s previous film Soggade Chinni Nayana collected over 48 crore from its theatricals it is an out and out mass entertainer.

Oopiri is a class film that is based on human emotions and relations. So one cannot expect SCN kind of response from the masses for this film.

Karthi has decent market in Tamilnadu, but most of his hits were liked by the masses again! Oopiri has two weeks window at the box office to cash upon as Sardaar Gabbar Singh will be striking the screens on April 8.

Vijay’s Theri in Tamil is slated for release on April 14 giving Thozha exactly twenty days to get to the safety.
