Overdose of Comedy Is the Culprit

Leading comedian and Comedy King Brahmanandam is the last word in comedy in Tollywood. Yet, he is being criticized for being repetitive and failing to evoke laughs.

Reacting to such comments, Brahmanandam says the main culprit is the overdose of comedy in media. TV, films, mimicry, shows and plays – all of them now bank on comedy to attract the audience.

Of late, most of the television shows are comedy-centric. So, the dose has increased, says Brahmanandam. Also, the veteran comedian points out that like the rest of the cast in the film, comedians too have to get good and well-written characters to give their best.

“If the character shapes up well, then sky is the limit for us. If the characterization is bad, even Charlie Chaplin cannot make the audience laugh,” he says.

“Also, there is lots of competition in the industry. Since I have enough films in my kitty, I can say I am still successful,” says Brahmanandam.
