Behind The Scene: Nagarjuna to get Gurukul land at cheaper rate!
With the issue of Gurukul Ghatkesar Trust lands at Madhapur getting more and more controversial, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy has finally decided to regularise the land encroached upon by bigwigs, including his own brother Vivekananda Reddy and film star Akkineni Nagarjuna, apart from other residential housing societies.
Government sources say while the government has decided to fix Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 per square yard for residential plot owners for regularisation of their plots, Nagarjuna is seriously lobbying for regularisation at Rs 3.6 crore for his 6.5 acre farm house, which comes to around Rs 1,300 per square yard. The committee appointed to look into regularisation is learnt to have given its nod for this price.
When the plot owners objected to it, the officials reportedly told them that since it is a huge plot, they have to consider it per acre cost, rather than per sq yard cost. "If he makes it into a residential colony, he will have to forego 40 per cent of the land towards roads and other infrastructure," they argued.
It is a different matter that Nagarjuna does not want to convert into a residential colony, but to have his own farm house.
