Fact Sheet: Vuppunutala wants chamber in Secretariat!
Senior
Congress MLA from Ramannapet Vuppunuthala Purushottam Reddy,
who accepted the post of Telangana Regional Board chairman
after much pursuasion from Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar
Reddy, is learnt to have demanded that he should be allowed
to operate from Secretariat.
Purushottam Reddy was told
his would be the Cabinet rank post and as such, he would enjoy
all the benefits of a Cabinet minister. However, he had asked
the Chief Minister to see that he be allocated the chamber
in Secretariat, like the Cabinet ministers, so that he would
be treated on par with them. There should be a separate peshi
for him, an IAS officer to look after the activities of the
Board and a specific budget for the Board. He made it clear
that he would not accept the post, if it is an ornamental
post.
The Chief Minister agreed
to provide Vuppunuthala a chamber in the Secretariat, but
he did not give any guarantee with regard to the other demands.
And with severe budgetary constraints, it is doubtful whether
the Regional Board would have any role to play!!
