Behind The Scene: Why only TRS MLAs figure in passport scam?
An interesting point noted in the fake passport scandal that has rocked the State is that most of those who figured in the statement given by scamster travel agent Rasheed are from Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
The police are able to gather evidences pointing to the role of some of the TRS MPs and MLAs in the passports and human trafficking scam. Though TRS leaders have been claiming their own innocence even while blaming their party colleagues for indulging in this 'obnoxious racket,' they admit that travel agents with dubious credentials have met them and offered them huge amounts for lending a helping hand in human trafficking.
This has triggered an interesting debate in the political circles as to why Rasheed could trap so many TRS leaders, leaving the other vulnerable leaders in other political parties. If one were to probe for the answers, one can understand that the TRS leaders were only "making hay while the sun shines." There is no guarantee that they would get the party tickets in the next Assembly or Lok Sabha elections, because it is done according whims and fancies of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao. Even if they get, there is no guarantee that they would win. Even if they win, there is no guarantee that they would enjoy power. Since the TRS is out of the UPA at the Centre and Congress coalition in the State, all the channels of making money by these MLAs and MPs were virtually closed. So, they found it easy to make money through fake passports. Probably Rasheed might have assured him that there was no way the scam would break out, as the passports of MLAs and MPs were not misused, but only their family members' passports were manipulated. But the racket got exposed and their greediness got exposed!
