Behind The Scene: Tamil star creates tension for YSR!
While Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu is giving sleepless nights to Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy on construction of Babli project by Maharashtra government on Godavari river, down south, Tamil Nadu super star Vijayakanth is creating nuisance over construction of Palar project by the AP government at Kuppam on AP-Tamil Nadu border.
Vijayakanth, who floated DMDK party in 2004, staged a dharna at AP border, along with hundreds of his party workers protesting against the government's decision to call for tenders on May 17 to construct the project on Palar river at an estimated cost of Rs 39 crore. Vijayakanth and his followers threatened that they would obstruct the construction of the project at any cost.
For Vijayakanth, it is a question of political existence, as he failed to make much impact on the electorate, though he created a sensation of sorts by announcing the launch of DMDK in Tamil Nadu. He has to take up agitations to attract the local voters. But if the YSR government stops the works or does not take up the project, Chandrababu Naidu would take advantage of it, saying the Chief Minister was ignoring the backward Kuppam area only because he (Naidu) represents the constitutency.
So like Babli, Palar project, too, has become a burning issue for a political battle!
