Behind The Scene: Sonia intervenes, dissidents to get voice!
It seems the dissident leaders
in the Congress ahve finally got a voice at the party official
forum. The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has decided,
following pressure from AICC supremo Sonia Gandhi, to allow
dissident Congress leaders to share the dais and express their
views during the APCC plenary session in Hyderabad on May
14. The plenary is being held to mark the third anniversary
of return to power to the Congress government in the State,
after being in the opposition for about nine years.
According to sources, the AICC leadership has pulled up APCC
president K Keshava Rao and directed him to accommodate all
the seniors. Since elections are just two years away, the
party needs to be united. So AICC has asked Keshava Rao to
allow dissident leaders to express their views so that a broad
consensus is arrived on contentious issues.
So we will have Khairatabad legislator P Janardhan Reddy sharing
the dais with Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy at the LB
Stadium, the venue of the plenary. Incidentally, PJR was not
invited for a similar meeting held in Srikakulam earlier this
week.
All the dissidents including MPs Madhu Yashki Goud and Sarve
Satyanarayana and legislators P Govardhan Reddy, P Shankar
Rao, M Sashidhar Reddy and Vuppanutala Purushotham Reddy will
finally get the voice at the official party meeting. It is
clear sign for Keshava Rao from the AICC that he should mend
his style of functioning.
