Fact Sheet: Jr Naidu rules the roost in Chittoor!
Telugu Desam supremo N Chandrababu Naidu's brother Nara Rammoorthy Naidu is at it again. After keeping silent for about one year since he returned to the TD, Ramamoorthy Naidu is back at his old tactics of intimidating the party workers and establishing his supremacy in the party.
It was because of his highhanded behaviour and attempts to grow as an alternative power centre in Chittoor district that Chandrababu Naidu dropped him before 2004 elections. He joined the Congress, but failed to get the ticket from his favourite Chandragiri constituency ahead of Galla Aruna. Subsequently, he quit the Congress and announced "sanyas" from politics. Thereafter, he indirectly brought pressure on his brother through his followers to take him back into the TD.
Now that he has come back to the TD, Ramamoorthy Naidu has started displaying his arrogant behaviour once again. On Tuesday, he allegedly bashed up a party functionary during the organizational elections of TD at Chandragiri. Rammoorthy lost his cool when all most all the party cadres belonging to Pulicherla mandal objected to his proposal to elect Tirumala Siddaiah of the mandal as president unanimously. An argument ensued between the cadres and Naidu and the situation became volatile when Rammoorthy allegedly beaten up a party functionary, Murali. The incident led to postponement of election for Pulicherla mandal as all the party men of the mandal had staged a walkout from the meeting.
So, old habits die hard and Desam will never learn lessons from debacles!
