Behind The Scene: Whom did KCR speak with in Cong?
Telangana Rashtra Samithi K Chandrasekhar Rao has landed himself in a soup by claiming that he had received positive indications from the Congress on granting separate Statehood for Telangana region and that top Congress leaders in AICC had spoken to him and invited him for talks to work out modalities on formation of Telangana.
AICC incharge of AP affairs Digvijay Singh on Tuesday called KCR's claim a bluff, saying he had not spoken to the TRS president on the subject and in fact, there was no change in the Congress stand on Telangana, that is, appointment of a Second States Reorganisation Commission to look into the demand.
Now, KCR owes an answer to the public, as to whom he had spoken with in the AICC and who had invited him for negotiations on Telangana. When mediapersons ask him this question, he fumes at them saying there was no need for him to tell the names. According to New Delhi sources, KCR himself had spoken to Ahmed Patel, political advisor to Sonia Gandhi, to discuss the latest development of CPI declaring its support to Telangana. He reportedly told him that the hurdles for Telangana formation were more or less clear, as the CPI-M too made it clear that it would not pull down the UPA government, even if Telangana was formed. He pointed out that any delay on the part of the UPA would result in the Telugu Desam getting strengthened in Telangana region, going by the present indications. Patel asked KCR to meet him, when he comes to Delhi. "Let us meet Sonia, if required, to explain her the situation," was all Ahmed Patel told KCR.
So, it was the TRS president who spoke to Patel and not vice versa. This, KCR, tried to use it to his political advantage. But it boomeranged on him with Digvijay Singh denying any such developments.
