Behind The Scene: CPI joins TD bandwagon!
After the Communist Party of India (Marxist), it is now the turn of CPI to join the bandwagon of Telugu Desam to launch a scathing attack on the ruling Congress party.
The CPI, which has been a friendly party of the Congress, has gained the maximum benefits from the Congress – a Rajya Sabha seat, several MPTC, ZPTC and Municipal member seats and more recently, two seats in the AP Legislative Council. For the sake of these positions and posts, the CPI strongly supported the YSR government on many issues including Pothireddypadu, Polavararam and even Babli episodes.
Now that all the chances of gaining any benefits from the government exhausted, the CPI has realised that it has to play the role of Opposition. CPI State unit secretary K Narayana announced that his party had no objection to work with the Telugu Desam against the anti-people policies of the YSR government. He shamlessly agrees now that the three year-old ruling Congress government has totally failed in keeping election-eve promises which paved way for regional imbalances. He alleged that the public were suffering from skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, nepotism and corrupt practices of public representatives, increase in death rate of women and children and unrest at the irrigation projects in the three-year ruling of Congress government.
The U-turn of the CPI State unit is a fall out of the national unit's decision to withdraw support to the UPA government. But whether the people would believe its double speak is very much doubtful.
