Behind The Scene: A blessing in disguise for TRS rebels!
The suspension of Medak MP A Narendra from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is in a way a blessing in disguise for the rebel MLAs of TRS.
Hitherto, the sword of getting disqualified from the Assembly membership has been hanging on the heads of these nine TRS rebel MLAs, for fielding an independent candidate Kasani Gyaneshwar in the Legislative Council elections. But with the suspension of Narendra from the TRS, there is a ray of hope now for these rebel MLAs for saving their positions. Going by the developments in the party, there is a possibility that at least four more MLAs would come out of the TRS – including Narsampet MLA Kambhampati Lakshma Reddy, Asifabad MLA Govind Naik, Ditchpally MLA Ganga Reddy and Cheryal MLA Pratap Reddy.
In fact, there are reports that many other MLAs are silently bearing the humiliation in the party and given a chance, they would also come out. If that happens, the TRS legislature party would be vertically split and since more than half of the MLAs are coming out en masse, they would not attract the disqualification rule. Thus, all of them would not only retain their Assembly membership, but would trigger a major crisis in the TRS. In the process, it would scuttle the process of Telangana formation!!
