One of the major issues that the proposed third front in the State, comprising Dalits, STs, BCs and Minorities, is going to insist on would be delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in the State.
The demand is more vociferous in Telangana, because there would be an increase in the number of SC and ST constituencies, if the delimitation takes place. The Dalit front has started dharnas and demonstrations demanding the Centre to expedite the process of delimitation of Assembly and parliamentary constituencies. It has alleged that a few political parties are trying to postpone the delimitation process in order to get benefit out of it as they are going to lose their constituencies or else reserving those constituencies to other sections.
Both the Telugu Desam and the Congress are not so keen on the delimitation process now, obviously because of their eroding base. If the Third Front gets strengthened with the arrival of Megastar Chiranjeevi on to the political scene, it would further damage their prospects.
