After facing humiliating defeat in the by-elections, the Telangana Congress leaders have once again started raisng their voice for separate statehood and some of them even have ironically claimed that they were prepared for any sacrifices.
Take for instance, IT minsiter Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. He was the first Congress minister one to submit his resignation when the Telangana movement was at its peak and was the last one to withdraw the same, stating that the Congress high command was infavour of Telangana state. Subsequently, he was the first minister to criticise the TRS legislators for resigning from their posts, stating that resignations would not fetch Telangana. Now that the voters of Telangana gave a decisive mandate in favour of separate statehood, Venkat Reddy has once again started talking about ‘sacrifices.’
He said the Congress MLAs and MPs from Telangana would resign en masse if the Srikrishna Committee on Telangana would not recommend a separate statehood after December 31. “We are ready for any sacrifices. In the meantime, we will request Sonia Gandhi to concede the separate state much before December 31,” he said.
Another former minister S Santosh Reddy, who somersaulted from TRS into the Congress and joined hands with anti-Telangana leader like YSR, has come back to the fore from nowhere. Stating that the people of Telangana had voted for separate statehood demand, he demanded theresignation of Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas. “It should be aneye-opener for Congress and the TDP. If Telangana state is not conceded, the Congress will be buried forever,” he said.
What a double-tongue these leaders have!
