She was also the personal gynecologist for Queen Elizabeth when she was on the peak of her career. In her last years she turned a great philanthropist and bagged the title ‘Mother Teresa of Visakhapatnam’. Hence in her memory the hospital is named after her.
 
Dr Buddharaju, MD, who has been the most popular Oncologist (Cancer Specialist) in USA, is the Joint Managing Director at the Lazarus Hospitals. Dr Buddharaju, popularly known as Dr Budd in the United States, had established very successful Cancer Centers in Nebraska, USA and gained good-will as Master Oncologist. He also published many Cancer Awareness articles in various American Journals that attracted huge readership. After proving his mettle abroad, Dr Buddharaju returned to homeland to extend his services to his people. Dr Buddharaju says, “40% of cancer deaths in India are due to smoking, 50% of cancers among women are accounted by Cervical Cancer. There is no national level preventive policy for these perilous cancers. These can be easily brought down drastically with some simple measures. We, at Lazarus, are going ahead with Cancer Awareness Program to sensitize people on this burning issue”.
 
Lazarus Cancer Awareness Program (LCAP) is determined to indoctrinate the need of Cancer Screening and preventive measures to avoid cancer among the people from village level to metros.
