Guess, who is going to be the next target of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy after winnign the elections?
No, it is not Telugu Desam party president N Chandrababu Naidu, who will have to wait for another five years to test his fortune. But the immediate target for YSR, according to party sources, is the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
The Chief Minister’s objective is to decimate the Left parties, particularly CPI (M), from the state either by engineering a split in it or launching a negative campaign against it, particularly its labour unions and people’s organisations. He has realised that only the Left parties have the capacity to build up the anti-establishment feeling among the people and if there would be more agitations in the name of SEZs and land struggles, it would be difficult for the Congress to tackle the situation. Moreover, the CPI-M leaders have the ability to bring all Opposition parties together.
So, the best way is to clip all the wings of the CPI-M and cripple it, so that it will have no time to take up any agitations. Good idea!
