Shri Sudhakar Potluri, Chairman and Managing Director, Electronics Corporation of India Limited, A Government of India Enterprise under Department of Atomic Energy, is selected as “Electronics Man of the Year” by Electronics Industries Association (ELCINA), the oldest and largest association representing the Electronics Manufacturing Industry in India. ELCINA’s Electronics Man of the Year Award was to recognize the extraordinary contributions by individuals towards growth and strengthening of Electronics Industry in India. The selection committee for this award comprises of senior Industry Captains from Electronics Industry.
At a glittering Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony held on 26th September 2014 in New Delhi, the award is presented to Shri Sudhakar Potluri by Shri Anil Swarup, Additional Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, Govt of India.
The honour of Electronics Man of the Year has been bestowed to Shri Sudhakar Potluri for his unparalleled contribution to the growth of manufacturing and expansion of applications of Electronics and Information Technology as well as Research & Development and assimilation of new technology. The eminent jury members recognized Shri Sudhakar Potluri’s outstanding achievements in leading ECIL to great heights, achieving the highest ever turnover, ramping up production to support the Indian electoral machinery as well as several other initiatives in expanding the activities of ECIL in new arenas. The Jury was unanimous and unequivocal in his selection after considering a number of industry stalwarts for this award.
Some of the previous recipients of this award include exceptional achievers such as Shri Ratan Tata, Prof U R Rao, Shri Mukesh Ambani, Shri N R Narayana Murthy, Shri Azim Premji, Sunil Bharti Mittal and a number of other luminaries.
Accepting the award, Shri Sudhakar Potluri said “Electronics Industry is one of the fastest growing sector and is expected to emerge as a critical contributor to nation`s economy. We should aim to make our country a global hub for electronic systems design and manufacturing. With the available vast pool of innovative and talented human resources and infrastructure, we should be able to build the capacities to develop and manufacture the entire value chain of electronics within the country. Leveraging on the innovations in the leading R&D Centers and Academic Institutions across the nation, we should become the leader in creating Intellectual Properties in Electronics.”
Shri Sudhakar Potluri has been serving ECIL since 1979 and has been steadfast in his commitment to Electronics and development of systems for Nuclear, Aerospace, Defence, Security as well as Information Technology and e-governance programs.
The education and knowledge of Shri Sudhakar Potluri is deeply reflected in his activities. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Warangal followed by Post graduation in Integrated Electronics and Circuits from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
