However, before the match, while all experts considering India’s recent poor form in Australia, predicted a great contest in the offing and merely expressed their hope that India would emerge winner in the contest, it was Sanjay Manjrekar who backed India as favorites.
“India has already been a long time in Australia. The batsmen are well adapted to the bounce of the wickets and the bowlers are also comfortable with the swing. On the other hand, Pakistan is fresh to the conditions and their batsmen will find it extremely difficult to adapt to the bouncy wickets straightaway. The odds are clearly in India’s favor,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.
True to his prediction, the Indian batting came good whereas the bowlers were too hot to handle for the Pakistani batsmen.
