Regarding the acquittal of Jayalalitha in the disproportionate assets case, a case which dragged on for eighteen long years, there is an amusing story on Twitter that aptly sums up the situation:
A cow is running fast to escape from a forest. An elephant stops the cow and asks, “What is the problem my friend? Why do you look so worried and why are you running away from the forest?”
The cow replies, “The government has given instructions that all the bulls in the forest should be caught. Hence, I am running away.”
The elephant is naturally surprised and says, “But you are a cow. What danger is there to you?” to which the wise cow says, “I know that I am a cow and you know that too. But if the authorities catch me, it will take them 20 years to determine whether I am a cow or not.”
