Dallas Telugu community raises a staggering $252,500 for NATA Atlanta convention during NATA board meeting

As the NATA biennial convention is within the sight their leaders notched up a level in raising funds for its upcoming glamorous event. The NATA team assembled in Dallas, TX between Feb. 28th and March 2nd for their board meeting. The meeting held in multiple locations in Dallas, showing the true flair of Texas.

NATA Regional Vice-President of Dallas Jaychandra Reddy welcomed the board to Dallas and claimed that the DFW team was fortunate hosting the national team in Dallas. He said NATA has a strong base in DFW area and informed that over 200 members taking it close to 1000 members joining the prestigious organization in the last 3 months.

The meeting started at Hilton Anatole with opening remarks by President Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy. He welcomed the members and thanked them for being part of the board meeting.

Dr. Prem Reddy chair of Advisory Council invited all the members and outlaid the importance of the objectives and purposes of NATA as an organization. He felt extremely joyous with the board and how NATA as a whole is dedicating its selfless services to the Telugu community. Dr. Malla Reddy Pailla member of Advisory Council articulated that NATA was built to serve the Telugu community in North America and in the motherland. He expressed that the biggest asset that NATA has is the unity among its board members. He hoped and wished that the unity be continued which will set a foundation to the younger generation of Telugu origin.

Mr. Ramsurya Reddy Secretary, NATA conducted the proceedings. Mr. Srinivas Anugula gave updated on the financial health of the organization; Mr. Mohan Patola tabled the new members and updated the administrative affairs of NATA during the last six months.

The respective committee chairs and the regional vice-presidents then provided their updates. Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy provided the board with the NATA Seva days updates held in December in India. The Seva days had included water treatment plans, health camps, eye camps, libraries and providing scholarships to meritorious students across Andhra Pradesh.

Later addressing the members was the NATA 2014 Atlanta convention convener Mr. Bala Indurti, he then alongside Mr. Srini Vangimalla the convention coordinator brought up to speed the various activities happening to bring the ever best convention in the United States. On the same token the Atlanta NATA team cordially invited the Dallas people to attend the NATA 2014 convention in Atlanta between 4th and 6th July, 2014.

The team reconvened after a lunch session and appointed Dr. Mohan Mallam as the president-elect of NATA who was a member of the advisory council, the position which was then upheld by Mr. A.V.N Reddy, immediate past-president.

The board unanimously declared Mr. Rajeshwar Gangasani and Dr. Haranath Policherla who will succeed Dr. Mohan Mallam as presidents successively.

The evening was followed by a cultural program and fund raising event for the NATA Atlanta convention event. The event was conducted in DFW Westin hotel. Welcoming the members Mr. Jaychandra Reddy the outlined the activities undertaken in Dallas such as Volleyball and Badminton tournaments. He appealed the members to generously donate for the 2014 NATA convention. He later invited the local DFW NATA team Dr. Ramana Reddy Guduru, Mr. Ramsurya Reddy, Dr. Sridhar Reddy Korsapati, Mr. Ramana Putluru, Mr. Ramana Reddy Kristapati, Mr. Mahesh Adibhatla, Mr. Pratap Reddy Bheemireddy, Mr. Srinivas Reddy Alla, Mr. Prasad Mallu, Mr. Mahender Kamireddy, Mr. Rajender Todigala Mr. Phalgun Reddy, Ms. Vani Gajjala, Mr. Sudhakar Reddy, Mr. Ravi Kona, Mr. Krishna Reddy Koduru, Mr. Raghu Gajjala, Mr. Mahesh Guduru and Mr. Satish Reddy Bommineni onto stage. Ms. Sridevi Thenepalli coordinated the cultural performances and the audience was amused by the performances.

Ms. Rajeswari Udayagiri anchored the event while the local singers Ms. Jaya Kalyani, Ms. Jyothi Sadhu, Mr. Srinivas Reddy Alla, Mr. Chakrapani and others. Dr. Prem Reddy led the fund-raising and within no time everyone realized that an astounding amount of quarter-million ($252,500.00) was raised.

The local Telugu association of North Texas (TANTEX) led by President Mr. Vijaymohan Kakarla and his team welcomed the NATA board Dr. Prem Reddy, Dr. Malla Reddy Pailla, Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, Dr. Mohan Mallam and Dr. Srinivasulu Reddy and honored with bouquets and shawls on the stage.

Mr. Jaychandra Reddy providing vote-of-thanks, thanked Dr. Prem Reddy for sponsoring dinner at the DFW Westin, Dr. Malla Reddy for sponsoring dinner on the 28th, local telugu organization TANTEX for the breakfast on the 1st, Dr. Ramana Reddy Guduru for the breakfast on the 2nd. He later thanked media 6TV live, TV5, DesiPlaza, photographers Mr. Prasad Golkonda, Mr. Venkat Kokku, Hilton Anatole, DFW Westin, Mayuri Indian Restaurant for providing their venue for meetings, thanked volunteers Mr. Uma Kurri, Mr. Madhu Mallu, Mr. Satish Reddy Bommineni, Mr. Umamahesh.

As the NATA team left Dallas, they proclaimed the Texas size memorable hospitality provided by the local team and promised to swing by again!
